MUST READ - Lilac Girls

I've had a difficult time finding a book that I cannot put down, but Lilac Girls cleared me off that path. Martha Hall Kelly is an excellent writer that takes readers back in time to World War II, the Second Great World War. She gives us a glimpse of real people that endured the horrors of the war. The book is told by three women: Caroline Ferriday, Kasia Kuzmerick, and Herta Oberheuser.

Caroline Ferriday, and American socialite, and Herta Oberhauser, a German doctor, were real people that Kelly brings back to life, telling their incredible and heart-wrenching stories. She creates a new character, Kasia Kuzmerick, a Polish teenager who joins the resistance to save Jews. Each chapter is dedicated to a character, telling their story. Kelly does an excellent job keeping the reader on his/her toes. She always ends on a cliff hanger!

However, this is an amazing historical fiction novel taking place in World War II. It's a must read. It explains how these women were affected by the war and their lives after. It wasn't just a horrible event that occurred for 10 years, but so many years beyond that. War changes people, and not always for the better.

Check this book out. She is also writing a prequel coming out soon!! Get reading!!
